Includes architectural, structural, traffic, ocean, and geo-technical engineers. The median annual wage for civil engineers was $84,770 in May 2017. Employment of civil engineers is projected to grow 11 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. As infrastructure continues to age, civil engineers will be needed to manage projects to rebuild, repair, and upgrade bridges, roads, levees, dams, airports, buildings, and structures of all types.

Traffic Technicians

Conduct field studies to determine traffic volume, speed, effectiveness of signals, adequacy of lighting, and other factors influencing traffic conditions, under direction of traffic engineer. The median annual wage for traffic technicians was $84,770 in May 2017.
