General and Operations Managers

The median annual wage for general and operations managers was $100,410 in May 2017.

First-Line Supervisors of Non-Retail Sales Workers

Directly supervise and coordinate activities of sales workers other than retail sales workers. May perform duties, such as budgeting, accounting, and personnel work, in addition to supervisory duties. The median annual wage for first-line supervisors was $71,650 in May 2017.

Purchasing Managers

Buyers and purchasing agents buy products and services for organizations to use or resell. Purchasing managers oversee the work of buyers and purchasing agents. Most purchasing managers and buyers and purchasing agents work full time. Some work more than 40 hours per week. Buyers and purchasing agents typically have a bachelor’s degree. Purchasing managers must also have a few years of work experience. The median annual wage for purchasing managers, buyers, and purchasing agents was $66,610 in May 2017. Overall employment of purchasing managers and buyers and purchasing agents is projected to decline 3 percent from 2016 to 2026. The outsourcing and automation of less complex procurement functions are among contributing factors causing employment declines for these occupations.

Industrial Production Managers

The median annual wage for industrial production managers was $100,580 in May 2017. Employment of industrial production managers is projected to show little or no change from 2016 to 2026. Most of these managers are employed in various manufacturing industries, and may experience growth or decline along with the industries in which they are employed.

Administrative Services Managers

Administrative services managers plan, direct, and coordinate supportive services of an organization. Their specific responsibilities vary, but administrative service managers typically maintain facilities and supervise activities that include recordkeeping, mail distribution, and office upkeep. Most administrative services managers worked full time in 2016. About 1 in 4 worked more than 40 hours per week. Although educational requirements for administrative services managers vary by the type of organization and the work they do, they usually have a bachelor’s degree and must have related work experience. The median annual wage for administrative services managers was $94,020 in May 2017. Employment of administrative services managers is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Tasks such as managing facilities and being prepared for emergencies will remain important in a wide range of industries.

Fundraisers

Organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations or other gifts for an organization. May design and produce promotional materials. May also raise awareness of the organization's work, goals, and financial needs. The median annual wage for fundraisers was $55,640 in May 2017. Employment of fundraisers is projected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment growth is expected to be driven by the continued need of various types of organizations to raise money.

Business Teachers, Postsecondary

Teach courses in business administration and management, such as accounting, finance, human resources, labor and industrial relations, marketing, and operations research. Includes both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of teaching and research. The median annual wage for postsecondary business teachers was $80,300 in May 2017.
